The Essentials of what We Believe

1. About God

   WE BELIEVE that there is ONE LIVING AND TRUE GOD, eternally existing in three person, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, equal in power and glory; that this triune God created all, upholds all, and governs all.

2. About the Bible

   WE BELIEVE that the SCRIPTURES of the Old and New Testaments are the Word of God, fully inspired, without error in the original manuscripts, and the infallible rule of Faith and practice.

3. About Father God

   WE BELIVE in GOD THE FATHER, an infinite, personal Spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power, and love; that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men; that He hears and answers prayer; and that He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ.

4. About Jesus Christ

   WE BELIEVE in JESUS CHRIST, God’s only begotten Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit. We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles and teaching; His substitutionary atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension into heaven, perpetual intercession for His people and personal, visible return to earth.

5. About the Holy Spirit

   WE BELIEVE in the HOLY SPIRIT, who came forth from the Father and Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment, and to regenerate, sanctify, and empower for ministry all who believe in Christ; we believe the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Jesus Christ and that He is an abiding Helper, Teacher, and Guide. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit and in the exercise of all the Biblical gifts of the Spirit.

6. About Human Beings

   WE BELIVE the PEOPLE are made in the spiritual image of God, to be like him in character. People are the supreme object of God’s creation. Although all have a tremendous potential for good, all men are sinners by nature and choice and are therefore under condemnation; that God regenerates, by the Holy Spirit, those who repent of their sins and confess Jesus Christ as Lord.

7. About the Return of Christ

   WE BELIVE in the personal, visible RETURN OF CHRIST to earth for the establishment of His kingdom; in the resurrection of the body, the final judgment and eternal blessing of the righteous and endless suffering of the wicked.

The BIBLE is our sole authority.

Since God’s word is the only completely reliable and truthful authority, we accept the Bible as our manual for living. Our first question when faced with a decision is "What does the Bible say?" We practice daily Bible reading, Bible study, and Bible memorization. The Bible is the basis for all we believe. 2 Timothy 3:15

Christ as the HEAD of each local church.

Christ is the recognized head of our church – not any person, group, or religious organization. While we recognize the value of our association with our organization and submit to their leadership and bylaws by choice, we believe every local church should be self-governing and independent from any denominational control. We believe each congregation should determine its own strategy, structure and style as the Holy Spirit guides its leaders. Colossians 1:18

The PRIESTHOOD of every believer.

The Bible teaches that every Christian is called to "full time" Christian service regardless of his or her vocation. We practice the truth that every believer is a minister by encouraging every member to find a place of service and ministry. Every believer has direct access to God through prayer and Bible reading.
Revelation 1:6, 1 Peter 2:9

TITHING God’s plan for support.

At Oasis we practice tithing for the support of Christ’s Body, the church, as God commands. We recognize that giving 10 % of our income is the biblical standard of giving. Leviticus 27:30

IMMERSION under water

We practice baptism by immersion under water—the way Jesus was baptized and the way the Bible commands. Colossians 2:12

BAPTISM in the Holy Spirit.

We Practice laying-on-of-hands for the baptism of the Holy Spirit, and believe that there will be a subsequent spiritual manifestation. Acts 1:8; Acts 2:38-39

DIVINE HEALING

We practice laying-on-of-hands for the sick and the prayer of faith to accompany healing. We believe God still performs miracles today and petition Him regularly to intervene. James 5:14-15; Hebrews 13:8

Telling others about CHRIST

It is the responsibility of every Christian to share the Good News with those God brings us into contact with. We practice personal sharing about Christ and inviting friends to church.

1. The Bible is our sole authority for determining our purpose.
2. We also recognize the value of prayer to descern God's vision and plan, as well as the strategies we use to fulfill them.
3. Every person has the right to a presentation of the Gospel at his or her level of understanding.
4. Every person needs a Biblical moral compass to guide and protect him or her throughout life.
5. Every believer has unique gifts to be discovered, developed, and used to strengthen the church.
6. Every believer has a purpose in advancing the global mission of Christ and the church.
7. Every leader is, ultimately, a servant, and is called upon to demonstrate humility, authenticity, accountability, and a genuine care for people as they equip others to use their gifts in the body of Christ.
8. The best way to do ministry is as a team. Teams are built around the individuality of gifts, team accountability and willingness of people to work for the good of the greater body.

"I have been all things to all sorts of people that by every possible means I might win some to God. I do all this for the sake of the Good News." 1 Corinthians 9:22-23

To bring people into a right relationship with God and one antoher, and help them develop Godly character and effective ministry skills in order to glorify God.
